Challenge completed

So my Christmas challenge was to be able to touch my toes.. and after plenty of stretching, plenty of warm ups, I finally did it. Really hard work and it's not something I can easily do yet and have to work upto it gradually. However it feels worth it.

Only negative feeling is actually now an ache at the top of my spine.. not sure how this has happened.. but feels sore even after a good nights sleep.. :(

love your blog. very inspiring. I discovered I had piriformas when I went to the physio for my broken shoulder. Apparently the internet research I did indicates that piriformas is often linked to falls.

You inspired me to pursue a really good and continuous stretching routine. I have always found that writing down my preferred behavior on an index card and briefly looking at it every night before I go to bed is really good for developing habits..I usually have three or four cards to look at; I update them, either one or all, when I feel I have achieved the desired result...usually within six months or so...

Thank you for sharing. This was very helpful to me...I wish you and your family all the best in the new year...

BTW, I live in Australia...we have pretty good healthcare, but the long waits can impede good detection. I believe it's essential to choose the doctor carefully...some doctors just follow their recommended instruction books...other actually use hypothesis based consultation methods...

Happy New Year to all readers. My last comment was in November and I indicated that the pain had somewhat disappeared, being replaced by a numbness. Well the numbness has somewhat disappeared but on New Years Eve a hint of pain was evident. Today the pain was stronger. I am praying that it holds off for a few days as My Mother is up visiting and will be returning to her home. That means a 1200 km drive this weekend. We have had a few snow storms this last few weeks and the shoveling of the back deck, I am not looking forward to. To stelladimare: I envy you.

Hi Happy New Year..

Stelladimare.. thank you for your comments, interested to read about the fall/injury theory.. that's another piece in the puzzle.

For the medical care in UK, I have perhaps been a bit disappointed with the length of time it takes between the iterations when you have something which is chronic. I don't like 2nd guessing medical people.. and being an internet expert, however I would prefer if they were a bit more transparent in what they known about the subject. We have recently been through another diagnosis for my son which has taken about 9months..and this time the doctors were very open about what they knew (and didn't) and put us in touch with an endocrine specialist which resolved the problems..

I made the trip with little concequence to my sciatica. Still pain, mostly now in the hip/buttock joint. I am trying a topical gel called Voltaren from Novartis. http://www.novartis.com/index.shtml .
It is new here but appearantly sold world wide OTC (over the counter) I am on the second day of trying it. It is supposed to releive joint/muscle pain. So far not much to brag about but I will give it the 7 day trial. I will keep you informed. If anyone else has tried this let us know. I did manage to do the snowblowing of the driveway and shovel half the deck without any adverse affect, so far. It is -17C today and clear. Rick from Timmins

Well here it is, Inauguration day in the US and I feel rather good. I don't know whether it is due to the Voltarin but if it is, I am going out to by more. There is just a hint of buttock pain but other than that not too bad. I missed a few days applying it as the pain was subsiding but got back on track. It might be worthwhile trying it. I have even been able to sleep on my left side, where as before it was too painful. I will be making a long drive to London (1900 km) for my grand-daughter's first birthday Feb 1st so I am hoping this stuff works. Have a nice day.
